Introduction

Welcome to the Ice Mage Alina build. In this guide I will show you how to build Alina to have a non-stop blink ability that gives an infinite shield so you don't ever need lifesteal while doing massive CC and AOE to your enemies.

Pros of this Build:

  • You will have a one second CD blink skill that also gives you a shield based on 30% of your max life. You can pretty much keep your shield up forever while teleporting around the map which means this is the only build where you don't need lifesteal to sustain.

  • Huge AOE skills that does massive damage and slows enemies.

  • Can fight from a long range without getting hit.

  • 0.5 second Freezing Bullet skill that also trigger 3 other damage skill procs everytime used.

Cons of this Build:

  • Your AOE skills have an 8 second cooldown so you will need to place and time them correctly or you will be out of high damage while waiting on cooldown.

  • Weak against crowd control because when you're stunned, you won't be able to cast Flash to get your shield up.

Why Go With this Build?

If you love elemental mage classes that can blink around non-stop while doing AOE damage with skills like Ice Rain, then this build is for you. It allows you to clear mobs extremely quick and also allows you to drop AOE skills and run away so you are never in the face of danger. This build is also incredible for team dungeons as Alina's AOE can pull enemies to the center while doing heavy damage and slowing them.

Team Comp

One of the great things about this build is that you have quite a few choices of who your secondary can be. Read more about secondary characters here.

Choice #1 would be Vilsack for his 5% extra damage buff "Phantom Aura" if you feel confident that you can always have your shield up without having to lifesteal. (Which you should be able to with a 1 second flash cooldown)

Choice #2 would be Isadora for the summons and 5% lifesteal buff "Creepy Witchcraft" if you are worried about dying and not being able to get your shield up. (Such as fights vs players/monsters with a lot of cc)

Talents at lvl 60 (The current cap)

Follow the Alina talent tree below as it will cover very important nodes for this build. Some of the key nodes are:

Rapid Cooldown - which reduces CD of your flash skill to 1 second when your energy is over 20% (which should always be with the Arcane Shield and Arcane Absorption Talent)

Frost Blade - Does 3x 448% damage frost blasts every 8 seconds when you hit enemies with a skill.

Ice Laser - does 7.4% damage every time a skill is used, can be paired well with Freezing Bullet when Ice Mist and Ice Rain is on cooldown as Freezing Bullet only has a 0.5 second cooldown.

Frost Ray - same as Ice laser, does 8.4% damage every time a skill is used (1 second cooldown), can be paired well with Freezing Bullet when Ice Mist and Ice Rain is on cooldown as Freezing Bullet only has a 0.5 second cooldown.

Lustrous Ice Blast - same as Ice laser and Frost Ray, does 7.2% damage every time a skill is used, can be paired well with Freezing Bullet when Ice Mist and Ice Rain is on cooldown as Freezing Bullet only has a 0.5 second cooldown.

Energy Mage - 26% damage amplification when your energy is at 50% or higher (which should always be the case with the other talents).

Alina Talent Tree

Vilsack Talents (If you choose him as a secondary)

Go any path you want, just pick up Phantom Aura and Tenacity Breaking, the rest doesn't matter since you're not using him.

Isadora Talents (If you choose her as a secondary)

Skills (Once you have the gears in the guide)

Skill 1: Flash: A 1 second cooldown blink skill that generates a big shield that is 30% of your max HP that also recovers 10% energy.

Skill 2: Freezing Bullet: Only used when Ice Mist and Ice Rain is on cooldown. A 0.5 second cooldown skill that shoots 4 freezing bullets which also procs Ice Laser, Frost Ray and Lustrous Ice Blast which all do about 7-8% damage each.

Skill 3: Ice Mist: A HUGE 12m AOE damage skill with a 30% slow that hits every 0.3 seconds and can be casted twice back to back when you use Flash (With the Treadfrost Shoes). It can also have its cooldown reset when you use Ice Rain. (However, the cooldown reset with Ice Rain is bugged right now and doesn't work if you cast Ice Mist twice with Treadfrost Shoes)

Skill 4: Ice Rain: Another HUGE 12m AOE damage skill that hits every 0.3 seconds while giving you a ~7% extra damage buff each time an enemy is hit by Ice Rain, it can be stacked up to 5 times. This skill also pulls enemies to the center which makes it a great team skill.

You need to follow the guide completely to get the skill results described above.

Skill Rotation in Combat

This rotation is based on the current bug where Ice Mist does not get reset when you use Ice Rain if you've already cast Ice Mist twice with Treadfrost Shoes.

  1. First use Flash to get your shield up

  2. Then use Ice Rain to start doing damage while getting the extra damage % buff bonus.

  3. Use Ice Mist twice for more AOE damage.

  4. Use Freezing Bullet and Flash back to back until Step 2 and 3 are ready again.

Gear

This is the most important part of the build, don't worry in Raziel, gear is one of the easiest things to come by and all free to play players can easily get the same gears as pay to win. It's all about grinding Demonland floors, Tavern, World Boss and spending your gold with Hayden the Jester to gamble for the pieces you need. Don't forget you can also furnace parts you don't need to get the materials needed to forge.

This build require 3 components: 4 Lustrous Ice Set, Lunar Eclipse Arcane Armor and Treadfrost Shoes.

  • Trinket - Lustrous Ice Set

  • Armor - Lunar Eclipse Arcane Armor (Legendary armor for Alina)

  • Hands/Gloves - Lustrous Ice Set

  • Weapon - Lustrous Ice Set

  • Legs - Treadfrost Shoes (Legendary shoes for Alina)

  • Helmet - Lustrous Ice Set

These are the effects each component gives you:

Stats

The main areas of stats you can actually get variation from are the actual stats of each gear, enhancement levels, gems, runes, fillers in M/H Stones and a few other things like costumes. Also, you must go for both offensive and defensive, otherwise you'll get 1 shotted by end game bosses.

Offensive Stats Prioritise:

  1. Extra Damage (Boost this as much as possible).

  2. Magic Piercing (Boost this by focusing on getting to level 5 gems since they give you 5% magic piercing and 11% a lvl 6).

Defensive Stats: Try to get over 2,000 defence and magic defence. Once you've reached these numbers, stack HP as your shield is based on a percentage of your HP.
